Monitoring
Part of the design process is the integration of monitoring: is monitoring of the “health” of the engagement space possible?
Monitoring and maintenance
An engagement space needs monitoring and maintenance.
Societal changes, new technology, new price points, scarcity or abundance, size thresholds that are passed, changed business models: all these influences may make the original design outdated or unstable.
The creativity and ingenuity of humans in trying to “game a system” cannot be underestimated. Monitoring for “health” may indicate the need to address behaviour that would distort the balance.
Bad actors may need to be corrected or ejected.
Process hierarchy
The process hierarchy as designed is the main anchor for monitoring and maintenance. It is their job to monitor and maintain, redesign and innovate. Monitoring of this process hierarchy implementation may require an active feedback loop, from users (complaining) to governance bodies.
